From: "Mark Dove" Subject: Success story Date: Mon, 19 Nov 2001 20:56:01 -0000 Hi Ade, Just to let you know that your site proved a winner in my DDS audio = extraction struggle (actually, I gave up about 2 years ago, having built = myself a optical/phono SPDIF converter and SCMS stripper). Anyway, I = moved my SCSI setup to a new PC and decided to give my Seagate CTD8000 = DAT drive another chance. I got in touch with Eric Boucher, who = immediately sent me the firmware upgrade.=20 I removed my tape drive from W95 device manager, rebooted W95OSR2, F8 to = select step-by-step install, and only installed ASPI8DOS.SYS, not = running the WIN GUI. Ran the FUP utility, which worked (with the /force = option). Restarted W95, and my drive, which was an Archive = 28388-XXX-5.45, is now an Archive Python 01931-XXX-5AC. A quick surf = over to http://www.ncf.carleton.ca/~aa571/download.htm#dat2wav and I now = have a 44kHz WAV sitting pretty on my hard drive. I've no idea if the drive still reads data - with CDRs being so cheap = I've long since mislaid any DDS tapes I had. The model is a CTD8000 = internal, 3.5inch on 5.25 runners, sat on an Adaptec 2940W/UW alongside = a Yamaha CDRW8/4/24, all on an old P2 333MHz QDI Legend V. Regards from Manchester Mark Dove PS. You can publish my email addy if you like. Happy to help anyone else out.
