From: Michael Deiss Subject: SGI Audio Capable DAT Drives.....LOCATED! Date: Tue, 4 Apr 2000 19:52:12 -0500 FYI, I have located a gentleman who has a number of SGI audio capable dat drives at a VERY low price. I paid roughly about $200. Not only do these drives do audio, they are also DDS-2. I have not verified DDS-2 operation, yet. I've just been playing with audio. My drive identifies itself as ARCHIVE Python 01931-XXX, Firmware revision: 5.63 I have used this drive to extract 44.1Khz audio samples from a tape recorded by my Sony PCM-M1 dat recorder. I used the demo version of the dat2wav program to which seems to correctly identify separate audio programs and put them into individually numbered WAV files. The gentleman who has the SGI drives is Doug Mashek, at Mashek Consulting Corp. Your source for used SGI workstations, and SGI Systems Administration Services. 16329 Kenyon St. NE Ham Lake, MN 55304 Phone: (612)434-3945 Fax: (612)434-0969 http://www.mashek.com/ Disclaimer: Other than as a customer, I have no business relationship with Mr Mashek. The above information is not a warrantee by me, and represents only my own personal experiences. Your mileage may vary and you are entirely on your own. I do not know what Mr Mashek warrantees as far as drive functionality. Kind regards, Mike
